Q3. Have you ever wanted to change your name?

Q4. Is it easy for people to remember your name?
Answer: “For Vietnamese people, yes. But for foreigners, my name can be a bit tricky due to the tones and pronunciation, so I often give them a simpler nickname.”

III. Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Describe a person you know who has an interesting name
Phần 2 yêu cầu bạn mô tả chi tiết về một người bạn biết có cái tên thú vị. Đây là cơ hội để bạn thể hiện khả năng kể chuyện và sử dụng từ vựng linh hoạt.
Cue Card: Describe a person you know who has an interesting name.
You should say:
- who the person is
- what the name is
- how you know the person
- and explain why you think the name is interesting.
Sample Answer: “One person I know with an interesting name is a university friend of mine named Trần Nguyên Đán. What makes his name fascinating is that it’s identical to the name of a famous historical figure in Vietnam — a statesman and scholar from the Trần dynasty.”
“I met him during my undergraduate years. At first, I thought he was joking when he introduced himself, but it turned out his parents had intentionally named him that way to honor the country’s history. Apparently, his father is a history teacher who deeply admires the values that the original Trần Nguyên Đán stood for — such as integrity and patriotism.”
“What’s even more interesting is how people react when they hear his name. Many are surprised or amused, and it often becomes a conversation starter. Despite having such a grand name to live up to, he’s very humble and down-to-earth, which makes the contrast even more endearing.”
“Overall, I think his name is memorable not just because of its historical connection, but also because it reflects a strong cultural identity, which I find quite admirable.”
